This is a little gross

This may turn you off, may make you see me in a different light, or may make you never want to look at my smile ever again…

I have teeth problems. You know this because I’ve blogged about my root canal from hell (which I’m still in pain from.). But times are a changing, and I’m no longer neglecting my teeth. I’ve always brushed… maybe not twice a day as recommended, but I’ve always brushed. Most of my problems have come from not getting my teeth cleaned in over 10 years.
I was around 15 or 16 when I had my last dental check up / cleaning. After that my dad and grandma fell on hard finical times. Not that we weren’t poor before, but things seamed to get tighter. My mom had me covered with medical and dental coverage, but I knew my Dad and Grandma couldn’t afford the co-pays, so I never said anything about going to the dentist or doctor. I wasn’t talking to me mom at the time, so I wasn’t going to ask her for help.
Years later I got a real job with medical and dental coverage, and even though I was paying for it I never signed up for a primary dentist or bothered to go. I didn’t have any problems with my teeth and it just kinda slipped my mind.
So here I am 10+ years later with clean teeth. I went to the dentist on my birthday and got my teeth scraped clean. It was rather painful. They did use some ultra sonic thing that I didn’t know existed. The hygienist said it would have hurt much more with out it.

So now my teeth are shmooooth! My floss now glides effortlessly between my teeth. I have my next cleaning scheduled in 6 months. I’m not going to ever go through this again.
