I applied for a new position here at work. It was for a Web Content Specialist in the communications dept. I didn’t meet the “Typical Requirements”, but I program websites so I figured it was worth a shot. I sent in my resume and cover letter with links to sites I’ve created. I’ve been playing phone tag with the hiring manager for a couple of day, but I finally talked to him today.
He said that they were looking for someone with more experience, but he really liked what he saw on my resume. He said that he would keep my info on file and let me know if when something else opens up. I told him I couldn’t ask for anything more.
Normally when you get rejected you just get an email from a HR person, but he wanted to talk to me directly. Word on the block is they aren’t hiring anyone internally because no one had the proper qualifications, but I must be more qualified then other candidates to receive a call from him.
I was excited about the possibility of getting the job, but getting my name out is good too. Soon school will start, I’ll get educated, and wont get rejected (for employment). I gots ta get paid son!
