Election ’08

This is my first time voting in Oregon. I’ve been here for one other election, but had too much going on to read up or everything. The voting system here is cool. In California I always voted absentee, because I was too lazy to find my local polling location. Here I don’t have too. Everyone votes “absentee”. They mail you your ballet, you fill it out, and either A) drop in in the mail, or B) slide it into a drop box that is places along the road.

Conveniently there is a drop box on my way home. I don’t even have to get out of the car. I just gotta roll down my window and slide my ballet in. It’s like a fat man’s dream. Everything should be so “don’t get out of your car” convenient! So, tonight I will be officially voting. How about you?

It pisses me off that absentee ballots and ballots cast by folks overseas (serving in the military) aren’t even tallied unless the “real” votes create a very close race.

For that matter, it pisses me off that we don’t elect by popular vote. If 51% of my state votes one way and 49% votes the other, the whole damn state has to vote just one way. That made alot of sense when we didn’t have any means of communication (other than Pony Express), but now? Come on . . . its ridiculous.

American Idol has a better voting system. Maybe Ryan Seacrest should run Election Night, with a saucy number by David Archuleta.

Already sent mine in – trying to be a good citizen but if Obama is not elected – i’m going to be an ex-pat. Canada here I come! or China!

Rita, the problem is that a huge % of this country is dumb, racist or both and the electoral college is supposed to save us from that.

    but i see your point.
