Weather is a changing

Gotta love Portland. We had some rain last week…Snow on Sunday… And now the snow turned into a bunch of ice!Driving to work was lots of fun.
I saw these signs on Saturday.

Saturday we also went to a tree farm and cut our own tree. It was cold and wet, but we had a great time. Molly saw Santa. She’s convinced she saw the REAL Santa because he knew her name. She didn’t realize that Patricia called her by name and Santa heard it. It was awesome to see Molly’s excitement.

I need to work on making better photo blogs. I used to be semi good at it.

Thanksgiving Photos

We trekked down to uncivilization for Thanksgiving. After work on Wednesday we loaded up the car and hit the road for Merlin to visit my mom. We only made it half way and crashed at a hotel. We finished the trip Thursday morning. We got there started cooking, had a pre-Christmas gift exchange, ate, watched football, and had good times. Friday we’re pretty low key. We saw Four Christmasas and hit up Walmart for a little Black Friday shopping. Saturday we went to the Rogue River National Forest and Crater Lake. Sunday we drove home. Here are some photos.

Our gift exchange

My Mom was pissing me off… So I threw her on top of her 4 runner… She was kicking and screaming the whole way.

We stopped at the fish hatchery on the way up to crater lake.

It’s a good day to look at photos.

I haven’t posted a photo blog in a long time, so here you go. Enjoy!

Jade always chews on her foot. Dumb dog.

This telephone pole has been used and abused. I wonder how many paper signs have been stappled to it in it’s life time.

Free stuff? What, free dirt? I found this sign on the ground.

Discarded homeless person’s sign. I guess he got enough for a beer.

What in the hell chewed on this tree?

Team Day pt. 2

Ah Team Day. I’m beginning to think that Team Day = Misery. Last year it was hot and the air was completely stagnant, and when you add that to a day at the boring Japanese Garden you could out with a big’ol bucket of terribleness. I expected this year to be less miserable then last year, and it was to an extent.

As soon as 12 noon rolled around I logged off my computer, and head over to my old team to see what the plan was. No real plan, just meet at the gate. I jumped in the car and drove over. I called Patricia while on the way. She was one of the team day coordinators and was already at the zoo. She had good news. It was 2 dollar Tuesday and it was busy as hell. YAY!!! Lots of screaming kids! Sweet! Soon I was at the zoo exit on Hwy 26 and HOLY SHIT! That’s a hella long line! The exit was full and cars were stopped on the freeway waiting for the exit. Shit! After waiting I pull up to the main parking lot and there were flaggers and a lady holding a sign that said “All Lots Full.” They were turning people away and were shouting “Park on the street! Good Luck!” Assholes…

Here is a line of people waiting for get to the zoo from one of the back parking lots, but this picture really doesn’t do the line any justice. It was WAAAAAAAY longer then it looks on this photo.

People starting trickling in. They decided to let everyone eat on arrival. Good thing. Some people didn’t show up until nearly 2:30pm.

We all ate, and then decorated picture frames for our Team Day Photo.
While decorating the “Birds of Pray” show begin.

That damn Turkey Vulture was supposed to fly over everyone and back to the stage, but hopped down to try and steal some human food.

They got it back on the perch and then sent it to the stage. It was flying VERY low. maybe a foot or two above the people sitting on the lawn. You can see part of the bird flying low on this photo.
Soon we were cut free! FREEDOM!!! I tried to gather people to go see the dinosaur exhibit, but not many people came. The dinosaurs sucked! They weren’t full scale. Most were 1/4 or 1/8 scale sized, and their animatronics sucked. Here was the coolest dino there. At least it was eating something.

We then just walked around looking at random sad animals. We were supposed to meet up at 3:30pm at the train station to take a train ride around the zoo and then go home at 4:30. Well, the line was for an hour. Then the ride was 40 minutes. Not a good plan in my book. While in line one of the trains broke down. It was their longest train. That pushed our wait out to over 2 hours. We bailed and got snow cones. By 4 o’clock we were released.

On our way home Patricia snapped a photo for me. It’s an ad for Burger King. I love the slogan. “AC for your mouth.” It was a hot day and that looked absolutely delicious!

So that was a team day. Better then last year, but still kinda over all sucky. I can’t wait for my new team’s team day.

A few photos

The Lucky Lab has some good food and rootbeer. I’m not sure why someone would think they’re sucky.

Fried cactus… Might have been good if I would have had some ranch to dip it in.

Disco AND Vodka?! Don’t mind if I do!

I can see why they need to ask you not to lick the van. It does look tasty!

Light in the men’s room at work was burning out. It felt like I was pissing in a rave.

The sign said “Effword”. Not sure what its about, but I’m all for the effword.

Damn it! I could have ate these! Why did someone waste them and let them flower?

I can see that the male figure is trying to keep from pissing his pants, but what’s up with the female figure? Is it saying that the slutty girls go here?

Sweet ride! I couple duct tape two of them together and mob around on them.

Another Trip To California

So I made a trip back to California for the 3rd time in a little over 2 months, but this time Patricia and Molly came with me. We were planning on going to the Grand Canyon, but with the price of airfare on the rise we thought it would be cheaper to drive somewhere… and it was. Flights for the 3 of us would have been over a grand, then we still would have rented a car and paid for gas. We ended up just renting a car and driving to California. We had the trip pretty much planned out. Something scheduled each day, but nothing with a real set time frame.

On Friday the 13th we drove from Portland, OR to Merlin, OR. We spent the night at my Mom’s house and she dog sat Jade for the week. It was going to be $27 a day to board Jade at the vet. Saturday morning we packed up and hit the road. We took 199 to 101 to hit the California coast. It’s a longer drive then taking the boring I-5 route, but there is more to see. Who doesn’t want to see more? You can see too.
We drove through the Redwood National Forest.

Then we stopped at the Trees of Mystery. We didn’t take a tour. We just played with Babe the Blue Ox!

There was apparently a biker “Redwood Run” the weekend we drove down. We saw THOUSANDS or bikers camped out along a river. We were too awestruck to take a photo. Sorry. I really wish we would have. It was impressive. I couldn’t see any patches of earth under the bikes and tents. They were packed in that close.

Sunday was Father’s Day. We had breakfast with my Dad, and then drove to San Jose to have lunch with my good buddy Mike McClatchey, and go to the Winchester Mystery house. I spent most of my life and never went there before. It was pretty cool. The tour guide didn’t like us. We were entertaining ourselves. Oh well… Sucks to be her!
Some of the stairs and walk ways were super tiny. It felt like I needed to grease up my shoulders to get through some areas.

The View from one of the balconies.

While walking around in San Jose I saw this in the news paper machine. Effect 6/16/08 gay marriage was legalized in California. I asked Mike to marry me. He agreed, but we didn’t follow through. Its a shame too. He has a sweet ass!

Monday we picked up my Dad and went to the Jelly Belly Factory for a guided tour. They were pretty much closed down for maintenance, but we still had fun. More importantly we got Popcorn flavored Jelly Bellies! My favorite!

The LOOT!

On Tuesday we went to Discovery Kingdom. For you old school Nor Cal peopler that’s Marine World Africa USA. It was hot. Patricia tripped and fell hard on her knee. We even had to go to the first aid booth, but she was a trooper. She still walked all over that damn place.
Molly’s first REAL roller coaster. Tony Hawk’s Big Spin.

Wednesday morning we went back over to my Dad’s house to hang out and play a little rock’n roll. After a couple hours there we went to Water World.

My Dad has had an infection in his arm/hand for a while now. He can’t really grip so he taped the drumstick to his hand. Man he needs new drum heads. He’s got them plastered with tape.

Thursday we packed up the car and drove to San Francisco. We spent the day at the Exploratorium and Fishermen’s Wharf. After the wharf we drove to Monterey, CA.

Friday we spent at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row. We saw sea cretcures, ate, shopped, and looked around. It was fun.

They had a new otter exhibit. It was rad! Those critters are entertaining!

This Grandpa was dressed all skater style. It was pretty funny.

I saw some shit too. Not sure I want to rub my meat with shit though…

Then we saw this guy… He was ROCKIN OUT! Notice the 5 year old watching him. He was the only person watching this dude, but he didn’t care. He was born to rock, and by god he was going too!
Saturday we drove back to Merlin, OR. We spent the night there, and Sunday morning we went on a Hell’s Gate Canyon Jetboat ride. I’ve been on the ride 4 or 5 times before, but it’s always fun.

Sometimes you get wet. What’cha gonna do?

After the jetboat ride we packed up and high tailed it home. We were tired. Patricia Mother was in from Andover, MA, and we need to meet up with her and Patricia’s sisters. We still haven’t gotten settled in. We’ve been on the go for the last week. This 3 day weekend will be nice. I need a vacation from our vacation.

We also hung out with Dustin and Dani, bitched to both hotels we stayed at and got what we wanted, but this was a long photo blog and I’m tried of typing. Maybe I’ll share that story latter.

Dustin & Danielle’s Wedding

WOW! What a trip. I had loads of good times, and I’m not tired. I guess a 2 hours nap and 9 hours of sleep will help cure that. I took an ass load of photos this weekend. Over 120. I only have a few to share with you today, because I have some special plans for them. I wanted to do something special for Dustin so I devised the plan of the “Best Man Cam”. I’m going to get this photos printed up into a nice album for him. Sure they’re gonna have a gajillion super nice photos from the ninja of a photographer they hired (She blogs too), but my photos are more behind the scene and crapy by comparison to the before mentioned photographer.  So here is how it went down.

I took friday off of work, woke up WAY too god damn early in the morning, and drove my happy ass to the airport. My flight left at 7am. I landed in Oakland about 8:30. I got my rental car and drove back to the airport to pick up Jeb who’s flight arrived about an hour after mine. Then we hit the road to Concord. We stopped at Nino’s house and hung out there for a while. We bought WAY too much food to BBQ because people were supposed to show up and kick it with us, but backed out. Just for the record. 8lbs of meat to make tacos is WAAAAAAAY too much for food 3 grown ass men to consume, but we tried… Oh did we try.

I then had to go to the mall and pick up my Tux. Good thing I tried it on. My pants we just a liiiiittle short. The dude remeasured them and they we about 3 inches short.  I went back to Nino’s for a couple more hours, and then back to the mall to pick up my altered tux. I didn’t try on my pants do to time constrains, but there were still a little short. They must have been 4.5 inches short. Oh well.

I met up with Dustin and Dani, we loaded the car, and took for to Benica for the rehearsal. We walked through the cerimony about 3 times, went over details, had a Q and A session, and headed over to Pirate Pizza, who has surprisingly good pizza, for dinner. After dinner Dustin, John, and I went back to Dustin and Dani’s apartment and rocked the Wii until they early hours of the morning. We might have had a couple of drinks too. It was good times. (Note to self: Do not play John at Wii sports Boxing, or Tennis. He’ll school you like 4th grade!)

Saturday morning they boys met up at Chick’s doughnuts. MMMMM GOOD!!! They don’t just do doughnuts. They have a full on menu. 3 out of 4 of us ordered the county fried steak with gravy. Tasty! After breakfast Dustin and I went to Target. He needed some new boxer shorts. I tried to get him to buy bikini briefs to wear for the wedding night *wink wink nudge nudge*, but no dice (sissy). He just went with lavender boxers. I’m sure he looked pretty in them for Dani. Back to the apartment we went to shower and get ready.

HELLO SEXY MENZ!

But I made it look better… Ok… I’ll put my ego down for a minute. (Man I look happy in this photo. I was tired)

We got to the wedding and loaded our jacket pockets with booze that John picked up. We then got some glasses of ice from the bartender (only serving beer and wine) and poured ourselves some drinks. We took some photos, greeted guests,  had the mothers pin some flowers on us and got the show on the road.

I think my speech went over pretty well. I tried to be somewhat funny. My goal was to make Kirk’s table laugh, make Dustin and Dani feel slightly uncomfortable, and make Dani say “Awww” at the end.  I know I got at least 2 out of 3 and that ain’t bad.
The food was great, the music was good, people had a good time, and the love filled the air. Little things happened like the unity candles blew out from the Benica winds, waiter dropped a serving tray of champaign flutes on the groomsmen side of the table sending a title wave of champaign crashing down on our table and crotches, and I crushed a chair. Little things like that make a wedding rememberable.
After the wedding ended a drunk Uncle slapped some younger dude. Not sure why, but that set the emotions a flying. The uncle was carted off, and the young dude was surrounded by people, including me, trying to cool him down. Good times.
After all was said and done a small group of us headed to a local bar for drinks. Much to our surprise it was a karaoke bar.  Most of us sang, some of us danced, and we had good times. We were there for a few hours until the bride and groom decided to spend the rest of the evening alone.
I hope Dustin and Dani have the greatest marriage ever.  Although their relationship can look strange from the outside in from time to time, they compliment each other very well. That is the key to a good relationship. Picking up where the other one leaves off, ive and take, and understanding…. Boy do these too have a lot of understanding.

Doing My Best Man Duties

Last weekend I flew to California for Dustin’s Bachelor party. It wasn’t organized very well, and I feel a little bad about that. It took at while to figure out what we wanted to do. There was talk of a private striper (He’s fiance shot that down quick like), going to S.F., or going to Reno, NV. Dustin finally decided on Reno. Dustin gave me a list of 20 or something people to invite. Counting Dustin and myself… 6 people came. Well… 7 if you include one of Dustin’s old co-workers that was already there with his family. He was just able to tag along with us for several hours. Even though the only real plans were a rental car, hotel room, booze and boobs we had a great time. Here’s how the weekend unfolded.

Friday May 9th, 2008
Worked from 7am-3:30pm
Packed and drove to PDX
Flight was supposed to lease at 7:30pm, but was delayed an hour and a half.
Land, get rental cart, drive to Dustin’s apartment at 12am
Saturday May 10, 2008
Realize Dustin isn’t home and call him. 12:01am
Dustin tried to give me drunken directions and hands phone to someone else.
Get to Thad’s house 12:30am
Leave the party at Thad’s house 1:30am
Get to Dustin’s apartment 2am
Down stairs neighbors come up and we partied till 5am (by partied I mean I sat in a chair and dozed in and out of sleep with my head in my hand)
Sleep 5am-7am
Danielle’s sister and friends come to pick her up for her bachelorette party 7am
Dustin and I get breakfast 8:30am
Shower/pack/play Wii Bowling 10am-1pm
Pick up Nino 1:30pm
Drive to Reno, NV.
Here is when I lose track of time.
We checked into the hotel about 4pm I think, and waited for Riggs to show up.  We drank, played slots, and hit up a buffet. Around 9am we decided we needed boobies. There was talk about going to a brothel house, but due to potential of Dani killing us we decided to go to a titty bar. We got Dustin an ass load of lap dances and over priced liquor. I even bought myself 2 of the most delicious bottle of water ever! Ok, maybe not the MOST delicious but that’s what I’m telling myself. For $5.25 a pop they better have been the most delicious bottles of water EVER! They’re lucky I was sobering up and had a hang over.
At 3 am we left the boobie bar. We heading for the hotel and hit up a restaurant. We all ordered the special. $4.95 steak and eggs. GOD FUCKING DAMN! were they good! It could have been the hang over talking, but I couldn’t have spent that 5 bucks better. We stumbled back to our rooms and passed out around 5am. Got up and 10 the next morning, hit the showers, and then hit the road.
It was fun and exhausting. I flew back to Portland that night. Got home around 10:30pm Sunday night. Good thing I didn’t have to work until 10:30am on Monday.
Here are some photos I took during the trip with my phone. I have more that I took with my camera that I’ll post later.
The party at Thad’s House. It was Danielle’s friend Stephanie’s birthday party.

2 hours of sleep will make you a little crazy
I miss IN-N-OUT!

Dustin in our hotel room.

This dude was HAMMERED! He was all slumped over. This photo is right after the security guard shook him.

My view during the shuttle ride from the rental car place to the airport.

Too tall for the airplane. Had to duck.

They searched my bag, and I found this in it when I got home. Good thing I dumped the dead body in the dessert.
