A New Year A Coming
Posted by jim in Divorce, Uncategorized on December 31st, 2008
What a year. I’m pleased that this year has come to an end. 2008 really helped me find myself again, so I can’t say that I hated it, but I can be glad its over.
This last year I realized I wasn’t happy and made some changes. Changes that may have hurt other people, but changes that were necessary. In the long run these changes will (and have) prove to be the best for all. No regrets.
Let’s recap 2008:
Learned to install a floating floor system.
Learned to patch drywall.
Learned that some fuses in a car are bolted on.
Realized that I was not happy with life, love, or the thought of the future.
Asked for a divorce.
Recorded a great demo with a great friend (I still need to record vocals. I’m a slacker! I hope Mike and I work together more in the future.).
Learned that Satan is spelled with 4 letters.
Got a divorce.
Lost a lot of belongings.
Realized that belongings mean nothing.
Found love and what feels like my first real adult relationship.
Struggled (ok, maybe not struggled, but it’s been quite the learning experience) with becoming a parental figure.
Got a cross training at work with prospects of a full time position.
Got healthier (and will continue to do so in ’09).
Drove with snow chains on for the first time in my life.
Witnessed over a foot of snow fall on a city (My previous record was about 5 inches).
Good times! I can’t wait for ’09!
Happy New Years! (Sorry Kirk. I had to throw that S in there for you!)

I HATE carrots!
That is all.
Not A Champion This Year.

This was my third year playing fantasy football. I played in two leagues and came in third on both of them. Based on win loss record before for the playoffs I was in first place in one league and tied for 1st in the other.
I’m a little surprised I did so well in one of my leagues. I had a terrible draft. My first 2 draft selection barely put up 50 point total for the
year. Bastards!
I’m not so happy the season is coming to and end. What am I going to look up when I’m bored at work? I’ll no longer have to track each player’s and team’s stats. I guess I’ll have to get some work done. *sigh*
The great thing about playing fantasy football, is I can talk to almost any guy about football. I’m up to date on all the teams, so even if they only follow their team I can talk to them about it. It’s an easy way to bond. Like with Patricia’s Dad. I don’t know him all that well, and he doesn’t know me all that well, but during his last visit I was able to talk to him about how the Patriots weren’t going to be as dominate this year, and that Tom Bardy isn’t the man (This was before he got hurt). He said the running game would step up, and I wasn’t so sure that would happen. It was as easy as that.
So now I wait until next year. At least there will be a lot of 49ers news during the off season to keep me on life support. They do have to select a head coach after all.
I’ll never wish for a white Christmas… EVER!

I love the cold. That’s one of the best thing about living in the North West, but this snow has to go. Most of the time it snows and melts when it hits the ground. At the most it’ll stick on the ground for a couple of hours, but for the last week of so it has been cold and windy. We have snow on top of ice, on top of snow, on top of ice, on top of snow, ect… Makes for sucky driving conditions.
This resent storm has broken the record for most snow fall in the month of December in Portland, OR. Crazy! We’re on track to break the record for most snowfall in one winter season.
Thanks to this lovely storm… I’ll be at work for a 12 hour shift. There are 60,000 customer’s with out power and I am helping train employees from other departments to take calls from customers, and I’m taking calls in between trainings. I came in yesterday to train some meter readers to take calls yesterday too. I’ll have some crazy overtime on my pay check. I guess that’s nice.
Here are some photos.
My work’s parking lot with a little snow a few days ago.
This is the parking lot this morning
Snow piled up on the tables outside.
Patricia emailed me some photos of Molly and Jade playing in the snow this morning. I’m glad someone is enjoying the snow.

WTF?!
Posted by jim in Uncategorized on November 14th, 2008
Take a good look at this photo.

Notice the proximity of the vehicles to the intersection? Do you see where the cross walk is? What the fuck was the white car thinking?! I was stuck behind this for 15 minutes going home last night. It looks like the white car was trying to make a left turn, but didn’t really complete the turn. What you don’t see in the photo is that there is a right turn only lane on the other side of the SUV. So the white car is way off course!
Religion & Politics At Work
Posted by jim in Uncategorized on October 29th, 2008
So, I’m minding my own business at work in my cube and I over hear two of my co-workers start talking about politics. The conversation quickly switched to religion. They were talking about war, and then talked about supporting Israel. Person A’s stance was that war wasn’t the answer. Person B asked “What would have happened to Hitler then?” They talked about what were the reasons wars have started. Religion was their main talking point. Person A was pointing out wars that started over religion and then person b stated “They weren’t following the word of Jesus Christ.” WHAT?!
It was so hard to bite my tongue. What an ignorant statement. So, religious wars were only started by non Christian based religions? Hello! Ever heard of the Crusades?! Based on his theory… I don’t believe in Jesus Christ. Should he wage war against me? Better yet, maybe I should wage war against him so he wont have the guilt of starting the whole mess? It is this thought process that kills me about right wing religious people. OK, maybe not all, but a lot of them. You know who you are.
Religion is not bad, but you can’t run every aspect of your life based on the bible. The bible is a historic book that is possibly based on fact and/or fiction. From what I understand, religions say to use the bible as a guide line for life. Not a step by step walk through. We all understand morals and ethics. It’s up to us to reach inside of of ourselves and do the right thing.
So back to Israel. I’m not saying we should or should not support them. I’m saying you can’t base risking American lives over beliefs. Just because your a “…follower of the bible and bad things have happen to those who haven’t supported them.” (a quote from person B) you can’t suggest we go to war. After all… There will be men and women fighting your religious war who aren’t Christian. Some will be Atheist, Jewish or maybe even, heaven forbid, (HAHA I made a funny) Muslim!
Election ’08
Posted by jim in Uncategorized on October 28th, 2008
This is my first time voting in Oregon. I’ve been here for one other election, but had too much going on to read up or everything. The voting system here is cool. In California I always voted absentee, because I was too lazy to find my local polling location. Here I don’t have too. Everyone votes “absentee”. They mail you your ballet, you fill it out, and either A) drop in in the mail, or B) slide it into a drop box that is places along the road.
Conveniently there is a drop box on my way home. I don’t even have to get out of the car. I just gotta roll down my window and slide my ballet in. It’s like a fat man’s dream. Everything should be so “don’t get out of your car” convenient! So, tonight I will be officially voting. How about you?
