Another pound down the drain. That bring my total weight lost to 16.5lbs. I really need to watch what I eat on the weekends. It’s those tasty restaurant breakfasts that kill me. Could can turn down eggs, hash browns, toast and swine?! I know I can’t.
See ya next week.

My company has issued a weight loss challenge. “Lighten up… for GOOD!” They are asking for teams of 4-8 people to lose 7% of their weight from 2/2/09 – 4/24/09. I have assembled a team of 8. We are a total of 1,897lbs. We need to lose 132.79lbs to hit the 7% goal. The winners with get $250 donated to a non-profit organization of their choice.
Even though it’s not Thursday I weighed in for this challenge. 421lbs. Gotta love holiday food! I need to lose almost 30lbs for the 7%. It shouldn’t be too hard. See ya in two days for my official weigh in.

Back on track. Down a pound this week… Although, my weigh in wasn’t my normal weigh in. I usually go weigh myself right before I eat lunch. Today I weighed myself after work because I was at a training in down town Portland. So I had lunch, two LARGE iced teas, and a crap load of water. I’m still happy with the single pound.
See ya Thursday!

Yep. I’m kinda at a loss of words. I knew this was coming. Two weeks of eating things I knew I shouldn’t have been. Oh well. Gotta treat yourself once and a while, right? After all… It was a holiday. Who could pass up turkey, ham, chocolate milk, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, home made cheese cake, home made cookies, candy, alfredo sauce made from scratch, ect…? I gained 5.5lbs over the last two weeks. Could have been worse. I’m back up to 414.5lbs total. Maybe it’ll be a good thing. Maybe my body wont think it’s “starving” and I’ll shed some weight a little more rapidly. I guess time will tell. See ya next week.

I’m not going to weight in this week. I know I’ve gained. Too many cookies and other “good” food. I’m taking a break this week. In the spirit of Thanksgiving I’ll just be thankful for the weight I have lost so far, and enjoy my weekend with my family. I’ll check the damage at next week’s weigh in.
Have a safe and fun holiday weekend. We’ll be in Merlin, OR.

Another hard week in the books, and another pound down the drain. This was hard indeed. My hunger seamed to be incurable (Thanks to Rita for pointing out it WAS curable. I just choose not to.). I just wasn’t too busy at work so I had lots of time to fill. When I’m busy my time flies by and I don’t dwell on my hunger. I’ve picked up a few projects at work, so this next week should be easier… Well… At least until Thanksgiving. I guess I’ll be weighing in next Wednesday. See ya then!

Slim Jim Q & A
Posted by jim in Weight Loss on November 10th, 2008
I copy some of my blogs over to my myspace blog. I’ve had a few questions emailed and commented to me, and I thought I’d post them here.
Q:
Do you find that posting your weigh-ins here makes you be more accountable and helps you stick to your diet? I was curious because I always start a diet/exercise thing and then quit pretty soon because there is no one to keep after me about it.
A:
I do find that it helps. It’s also harder on the psyche. My “failures” are much more difficult to swallow, and my successes are a much greater high. I post my ups and down because now I’m not just lying to myself, but all of my readers (all 4 of them…). I’ve been lying to myself for years so its easy, but lying to my readers seams… wrong. I view it as a tool. A very helpful tool.
I’m still tryin to lose weight, Its definetely getting harder to stay motivated… how do you do it? its amazing watching your progress. Any tips or tricks?
A:
I don’t really do anything special. I’ve just started paying attention to what I’m eating. Based on my height I figured I should have about 2,000-2,100 calories to lose about 2 or 3 pounds a week with out exercise. I for the most part eat around 1,800-2,000 cals a day. Weekends hurt me a little. I love going out for breakfast on weekend mornings and that’s an EASY way to kill 1,000 calories or more! But you gotta reward yourself. If you have a “bad” meal you can’t beat yourself up. Enjoy it, and start your diet over as soon as the meal is over. That’s the great thing about diets… You can always start over.
Here’s what I might eat in a typical day
Breakfast
100 cal – Granola Bar (First thing in the morning to start my metabolism)
90 Cal – Bag of apple slices (I love you Costco!)
100 Cal – Fruit (I’ve been eating a cup of diced pineapple and about 1/2 cup raspberries)
10 Cal – Sugar Free Jello Cup
54 Cal – 4 Hard boiled egg whites

Lunch
260 Cal – Sandwich (bread, turkey, mustard) (We just found bread that is 90 cals for 2 slices. That’ll make is only 190 cals)

100 Cal – 100 cal pak of cookies or something
