Losing a great friend.
Posted by jim in Uncategorized on July 28th, 2008
I write this with the heaviest of hearts. I know this is what I have to do, but it isn’t easy. As if I haven’t gone through enough heartache this year… Now this. I need to find Jade a new home. I’ve been trying, we’ve been trying to work with Jade, but she crossed the line. Jade has become food aggressive towards Molly. Her food dish, treats, and rawhides. It started off with a few lunges and back hair standing on end. This has been fairly manageable. Molly has been a trooper, but it’s hard to ask a 7 year old to be a leader and more powerful then a 65lbs dog.
So I need to find a good home for Jade. Free of dogs, cats, young children, and with enough love to give my ball crazy sweet heart. She’s well trained with obedience commands. Sit, lay down, roll over, go to your bed, head down (when she laying down and you want her head down too), off (the couch, bed or what ever), out of the kitchen, no begging, drop it / let it go (ball at you feet), give it to me (putting the ball in your hand), and the difference between Ball, Bone, and Pippi (a rope toy that its the size of a human head).Could we still be friends?
Nope… I don’t think so. Even though things for the most part are civil between Anja and I, I doubt will be able to be friends. Which is ok with me. I mean… inviting the ex over for dinner with the new partner is probably in the top 5 most awkward things ever. I guess its natural for total separation to take place when getting divorced.
Jade’s New Friend

So I took Jade across the street to the field at the school to play fetch. There were several kids playing basketball and being loud. Jade didn’t care. She just wanted the ball. As we were walking to the field a little boy asked if she would bite. I said “no” and he asked if he could pet her. He came over and rubbed her head and back. Jade didn’t really care. She had her eyes locked in on the ball. I threw the ball and Jade took off like a bat out of hell. The little boy wanted to throw it so handed him the Chuck It!. After a few attempts at throwing the ball he finial threw one that Jade had to run for. I tried to to give the little boy some encouragement “Good job little dude!”, and I was quickly corrected “Don’t call me dude! My name is Able.”
Well little Mr. Able and I traded throwing the ball for Jade for about 20 minutes. Jade is happy she got to play, Able is happy he got to play with Jade, and I’m please with Jade’s performance around a bunch of loud pre-teen and younger children.

Potato Humper!

Jade is in heat, and her vagina is swollen up like a potato! It’s HUGE!!! When Kaze walks by and sniffs it, Jade somehow angles it up in a “Take me now!” fashion. It’s rather gross. And for that reason I feel compelled to share their disgusting act of love.
A Day at the Park

Yesterday took the d.o.doubles to the park. We picked up this new “Chuckit” toy to help launch the ball farther then we can normally throw it. The dogs looked so freakin happy. It was good to see them so happy.
Jade was running after the ball like a mad woman. She got so tired that she just lied down at the water dish. At least this time she didn’t hurt her paws. I think we learned our lesson about her running on hard surfaces. On the grass she did just fine.
Kaze didn’t really care about playing ball at all. She’s more of a free spirit. She was much more interested in exploring every nook and crany of the park. We did get her to run and play a little bit. She likes people to chase her. Unfortunately she has fat owners that can’t chase her for too long. After chasing her I was about to pull a Jade and lay down in front of the water dish too.
