Slim Jim 9/25/08

Damn it. Another walk of shame. I gained a pound. Just a pound, but a pound. I’ve been taking some pretty hardcore antibiotics, Keflex, for an infected ingrown toe nail. I’ve taken keflex before and it reeks havoc on my stomach. I have learned a trick to help ease the pain on my stomach though… I must eat a good portion of food or a large glass of milk with it. So, I’m taking keflex 4 times a day. That means 4 meals. Every night before bed I have to eat and drink something, adding quite a bit of calories to my daily intake. It’s only for ten days, but that really sucks for my diet. I’m having the toe nail extracted on the 3rd of Oct, so things should get back to normal. I only hope that if I gain again next week, I only gain a pound as well.

Slim Jim 9/18/08

Not a huge week, but a good one. I’m now 418lbs. That’s another 3.5 lbs for the week. That’s a total of 17.5lbs. I haven’t ate at well as I should have been. I followed my diet about 85% of the time this week. I just gotta stick with it. I’m almost half way to my first mini goal of 10% (43.5lbs) loss. My goal for this next week is to lose 4.25lbs to reach my half way point.

The diet is going fairly well. Having Patricia’s support (she’s dieting too) is incredibly helpful. We’re both eating much less. We’ve been commenting on how we’ve been filling up faster, so we’re eating smaller portions. Smaller portions of healthy food is our main tool. It seams to be working.

Tonight is pizza night. We’ve been rewarding ourselves after weigh in with something terrible. I can’t wait!

Slim Jim 9/4/08

I knew this was coming. I didn’t want to weigh in today, but if I didn’t I’d only be cheating myself. I knew what I was doing this weekend when I ordered the chicken fried steak and gravy for breakfast, or when I ate several slices of Patricia’s delicious yellow birthday cake with chocolate frosting. I am 100% responsible for my gain. I added 5.5lbs to my weight. I’m back up to 428lbs. So far in 3 weeks I’ve taken 2 steps forward and one step back.

I still have my head up though. The great thing about diets is you can always start again. I’ve been good today. Lets count calories for today so far.
90 cal – Dark Chocolate Cherry granola bar
190 cal – French Vanilla Yogurt
150 cal – Vanilla Munch Granola (Mixed into the yogurt)
40 cal – Pluot
530 cal – Subway Double Meat Sweet Onion Chicken on Wheat w/ provolone
140 cal – Baked Lay’s sour cream & onion potato chips
———–
1,140 cals

I try and stay between 1,800 – 2,000 calories a day. A 6’3″ male with a weight of 270lbs (my target goal) would need over 2000 calories a day to maintain his weight. So I have about 650 – 800 calories to use up tonight. Some fresh veggies, salad, and chicken breast should do the trick.

So that’s the plan for the next week. Patricia’s mom flies into town tomorrow. I’ll be MUCH better this weekend. Here’s the graph. See ya next week!

Slim Jim

So here I am getting back into the saddle again. I’m not gonna beat myself up for not sticking to my diet, shit happens. I lost 50lbs in 2006, and I gained back 35 over the last two years. Last Thursday I went to the doctor because I was having WICKED allergy problems and the beginnings of a sinus infection. I got weighed in. I was 435.5lbs. Kinda poopy.

My new team at work started doing this “20lbs Club” thing to inspire everyone to lose 20lbs. AWESOME! I love a good competition. So I started dieting again. Patricia has been very helpful with this process too. Eating at home, and bringing lunches nearly every day helps control our intake. I’ve also for the most part stopped drinking calories. I think that’s what helps most. A venti Passion Tea Lemonade no classic sweetener w/ 2 splenda now and then never hurt anybody. It’s only about 100 calories.

I will be weighing in on Thursdays, so you can look forward to seeing my weekly weight. My first mini goal is 10% total weight loss. That’s 43.5lbs. I weighed in today at 430lbs. That’s 5.5lbs down, and 38lbs to go.

Getting back in the saddle!

Ok. It’s been a while since I’ve done my diet thing. I went from 448lbs down to 400lbs last year. Well, after getting married, going on a cruise for our honeymoon, Thanksgiving, Moving to Portland OR, Christmas, New Year’s Eve back in Cali, and months on end of unemployment I put back on 13 pounds. I can’t keep sliding backwards. So I post this here. Digital proof of my efforts.

Wish me luck. I’m gonna be an asshole for the next few days while I go through food withdrawals.


What Did I Eat Today?

One of these is not like the others.

As part of my diet I am supposed eat 4 egg whites a day. Egg whites kinda suck ass. Both their lack of flavor and time consuming yolk separation technique really turn me off to egg whites. Most the latter of the two. I hate effort. So, an easy way to get the eggs whites is to enjoy a lovely hard boiled egg. I don’t care much for egg yolk by itself so Jade gets a lovely little snack too.

This morning I made a dozen boiled eggs, so I can snack on them other the next few days. Well it looks like out of the egg yolks tried to make a run for it. They pain of the boiling water torture bath proved to be a little too much for this yolk. Take a look for yourself.

Lazy Man’s Diet

So on the news this morning they announced that Coke and Nestle have created a tea/soda drink that will burn calories. They claim that by drink 3 of these new drinks a day you can burn 60-100 calories. Nothing like burning some calories the easy way. I fear that people will go over board with this and try and drink a 12 pack in one day.

Down But Not Out

I went to the fat doctor again today. I knew I wasn’t going to have a great weigh in. I’m been only half heartily, hell… less the 1/8 heartily adhering to my diet. I did lose 1 pound (total loss of 48lbs. current weight 400lbs). That’s better then a gain, so I am happy about that. They great thing about not being on your diet, is you can always start over. We have a lot going on this weekend. We even have a wedding to go to. I think I will go for a fresh start on my diet on Monday.

I’ve faced many of challenges in my short life time, but this has been by far the most difficult one. Losing weight is like trying to rock climb after you ran 20 miles.

Facial Hair

A few months back I made my first attempt at growing a beard. After a few weeks I had to shave that bad boy off because it was just too damn itchy. Here is what I had accumulated right before I scraped my face smooth again.
Well here we are. A new day, and a new facial cultivation. It’s coming in nicely if I do say so myself. What do you think?
