Yelp.com ROTD #2 – The Original Pancake House

yelp.com - ROTDAgain my phone buzzed several times last night notifying me of emails. After a quick sleepy eyed look I saw it was from Yelp. I assumed the compliments were people saying “Happy New Year!” One of the Three said that, but the other too were congratulations of my second Review Of The Day. I guess people liked my review of The Original Pancake House.

If you’re a yelper too, then add me as a friend.

Yelp.com ROTD #1 – Cupcake Jones

My alarm on my iPhone went off at 5am, I hit snooze, and then my phone started going crazy. “BING” ((Vibrate)) “BING” ((Vibrate)) “BING” ((Vibrate)) “BING” ((Vibrate)) “BING” ((Vibrate)). Wow! That’s a lot of email. I thought I got spammed. After I finished waking up I took a look at my email. All I saw was Yelp, Yelp, Yelp, Yelp, Yelp, Yelp, Yelp, Yelp, Yelp, Yelp, Yelp and more Yelp. People messaging me, sending me compliments and friend requests. I was selected as the Review Of The Day. Sweet! Here is what the Portland Yelp looks like this morning.

Do you Yelp?

I’ve found a new time killer. Well, not NEW, but new to me. I’ve been wasting lots of my time at yelp.com. Its been very helpful when trying to find some place new to go. Writing reviews and seeing if anyone else likes them is pretty addicting too.

Here’s one of my more recent reviews of a tasty little place called Voodoo Doughnuts.

As soon as I regain my vision from my diabetic comma, I’m going to finish this review…..

Ok, there we go.

I think they should change they’re name to “Fat Guy Heaven”. Do you like to dip, or “accidentally” get, your bacon into your pancake syrup? Of course you do! Voodoo has taken in one step further. They put bacon on top on maple bars. GENIUS!

I know I could stop this review there. That alone is WELL worth 5 stars, but they offer so many more doughnut options. Voodoo truly knows how to put the special into specialty doughnut. Imagine this… a doughnut with chocolate rice crispys, and peanut butter. Wait… don’t imagine it. Just go pick yourself up a No Name from Voodoo!

Voodoo has only let me down one time. I had a few friends from a touring band crash at my apartment. I thought I would treat them to some of Portland’s finest. I got up at 5am to get some Voodoo before my friends had to take off. I drove out from Beaverton only to find a sign that they were sold out. Sold out at 5am on Sunday morning?! Isn’t that against the doughnut shop code of conduct? Oh well. I forgive them.

Now, if you’ll excuse me… I need to go make some sweet sweet love to a Coco Puff Doughnut.

If you’re a yelper too, feel free to add me. Here’s my profile.
